Job Description

About the Team: The Leadership Development Team aims to develop a school leadership pipeline that builds and sustains high performing schools. With a structured on-ramp to leadership, targeted coaching, and an equitable process for promotions, leaders will develop the skills to thrive. There are three programs operated by the Leadership Development Team to support the growth of leaders: Emerging Leaders, Leader Fellows, and Principal-in-Residence.

The Senior Manager, Operations, Leadership Development, (SM, LD) is an essential support position to the Leadership Development Team. Reporting to the Director, Leadership Development, the Senior Manager will support the selection of program participants and the management of the year-long residency programs, including communications, event operations, and resource materials. 

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. Cadence and frequency of travel to schools is determined by your leadership team. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. It is important that you notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.

General Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Leadership Development Communications

  • Manage the KIPP NYC career pathway communications plan (information sessions, testimonials from participants, website, opportunity newsletters, etc.)

  • Manage an internal facing website and other online platforms used to share resources and materials with school leaders. program leads and stakeholders across the organization who are involved in the development of program participants

  • Curate a monthly newsletter for program participants and other stakeholders to share information about upcoming deadlines, external professional development opportunities, and cohort updates

  • Oversee internal and external resource sharing to ensure program accessibility and transparency 

Leadership Development Program Management

  • Manage project plan, knowledge management, and standard operating procedure playbooks and key tools for leadership development programs, including Emerging Leaders, Leader Fellows, and Principal-in-Residence programs

  • Track goal setting and progress monitoring towards overall program goals

  • Develop and manage calendars for professional development and other events

  • Plan and execute operations for professional development events and celebrations, including program retreats and school visits

  • Manage team operational administrative needs (e.g. purchasing, travel, professional development arrangements, credit card processing, team budgeting, etc.)

  • Support ad-hoc projects as requested by the Director, Leadership Development and regional leadership

Recruitment and Selection 

  • In partnership with regional leadership, create selection materials & process to select Principals-in-Residence, Leader Fellows, and Emerging Leaders

  • Support talent team in recruiting internal & external candidates

  • Train and prepare candidates and selectors to participate in selection event

  • Execute event plan for selection event, including reserving space, creating schedules, ordering meals, coordinating materials, and on-site setup

  • Lead selection debrief process to monitor progress toward selection goals and determine annual process improvements

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with at least 4+ years of operations experience, program management preferred.

  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and project management skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment with the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook and Google Drive

  • Demonstrated passion for and a commitment to the KIPP NYC mission for high quality public education and the character traits we value: Zest, grit, self-control, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor



Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $95,000 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band. Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range, however they are ultimately determined by scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
