If you possess a caring heart and a commitment to helping others, PathPoint may be the place for you We are excited to welcome a new full-time Direct Support Professional II (DSP) to join our day services team in San Luis Obispo, CA 93405. Our day services provide skills training and behavioral support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will lead virtual and in-person classes. Curriculum for classes can include art, music, cooking, and more. We're looking for creative and compassionate people who are teachers at heart, and we encourage you to bring your own ideas for new curriculum

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm, 37.5 hours per week.

Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour. The pay range for this position is $16.83 - $25.24 (subject to change based on a variety of factors).

The Impact You'll Make:

As a DSP II, you will work with a small group of individuals in a facility-based or community-based program, leading in-person and online groups that help individuals develop skills, which may include art, music, cooking, recreation, and vocational skills. You will accompany groups on community activities for recreation or volunteer opportunities and build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills. You may also assist individuals with activities of daily living and personal care, which include helping with meals and eating, toileting, transferring, changing, etc.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages is desirable but not required. If you are interested in this opportunity but do not have directly relevant experience, we'd still love to hear from you
  • Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, 5 years of driving experience, and be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Culturally aware, acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds, possesses skills to collaborate across cultures, and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
