LightFeather is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for engineering tasks and managing cloud environments in support of SEVIS, and will be instrumental in devising and executing strategies for DevOpsSec pipeline adoption, development, and implementation. Additionally, the role involves enhancing performance monitoring, implementing SOPs for configuration management, overseeing cloud resource billing/usage, and facilitating migration between cloud environments.

This Position is Remote Hybrid (2-3 Days/Week On Site). Must be local to the DC Metro area, or willing to relocate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering tasks and manage cloud environments for SEVIS.
  • Develop and execute strategies for DevOpsSec pipeline adoption, development, and implementation.
  • Enhance performance monitoring and implement SOPs for configuration management, including user access, server lifecycle management, billing, and cloud resource usage.
  • Facilitate the migration of applications from AWS Commercial Cloud to FedRamp Approved Gov Cloud.
  • Forecast cloud costs and implement strategies to monitor and reduce costs and usage of cloud resources.
  • Ensure compliance with FISMA and NIST security standards and requirements.
  • Design and implement Cloud-based AWS solutions and architectures.
  • Apply The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) in Agile solution designs to minimize technical debt and improve velocity.
  • Manage software design and development, systems operations/management, database architecture, storage, and IT security.
  • Utilize DevOpsSec pipeline tools for configuration management, requirements (e.g., JIRA), automated testing, deployments, and branching strategies.
  • Design solutions compliant with network communication protocols, ports, routing, proxy settings, and firewall policies.
  • Develop root cause analyses, problem identification and resolution, and roadmaps for system design and implementation.
  • Optimize system performance and resource utilization through log and monitoring analysis.
  • Implement Cloud-based hosting solutions, backup and recovery, and failover zones.
  • Administer databases (MongoDB and Oracle) and manage database-related tasks.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; previous or active DHS ICE clearance is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • 8+ years relevant experience in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Experience designing logical and network diagrams.
  • Experience with migration of applications from AWS Commercial Cloud to FedRamp Approved Gov Cloud.
  • Experience forecasting cloud costs and implementing plans to monitor and reduce costs and usage of cloud resources.
  • Technical proficiency designing and implementing Cloud-based AWS solutions.
  • Experience applying The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) in Agile solution designs.
  • Proficiency in software design and development, systems operations/management, database architecture, storage, and IT security.
  • Experience with DevOpsSec pipeline tools (e.g., JIRA, automated testing, automated deployments, blue-green deployments, branching strategy).
  • Proficient in network communication protocols, ports, routing, proxy settings, and firewall policies.
  • Experience designing solutions compliant with FISMA and NIST security standards and requirements.
  • Experience with Message Services (e.g., Apache ActiveMQ, MuleSoft, Apache Camel).
  • Experience with microservices/container architectures (e.g., Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes), orchestration, and automation.
  • Proven ability to develop root cause analysis, problem identification and resolution, and roadmaps for system design and implementation.
  • Technical proficiency in optimizing system performance and resource utilization through log and monitoring analysis.
  • Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools (e.g., Data Dog, AppDynamics, NewRelic).
  • Experience with designing and implementing Cloud-based hosting solutions, backup and recovery, and failover zones.
  • Familiarity with best practices in AWS billing and accounting to minimize oversubscription of services.
  • Experience in database management and administration (MongoDB and Oracle).
