New York, United States Captions Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Captions is the AI-powered creative studio. Millions of creators around the world have used Captions to make their video content stand out from the pack and we're on a mission to empower the next billion.

Based in NYC, we are a team of ambitious, experienced, and devoted engineers, designers, and marketers. You'll be joining an early team where you'll have an outsized impact on both the product and company's culture.

We’re very fortunate to have some the best investors and entrepreneurs backing us, including Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Uncommon Projects, Kevin Systrom, Mike Krieger, Antoine Martin, Julie Zhuo, Ben Rubin, Jaren Glover, SVAngel, 20VC, Ludlow Ventures, Chapter One, Lenny Rachitsky, and more.

Check out our latest milestone and our recent feature on the TODAY show and the New York Times.

** Please note that all of our roles will require you to be in-person at our NYC HQ (located in Union Square) **

About the role:

We’re looking for our first Performance Marketing Manager to expand and scale our existing paid marketing program. You’re comfortable running campaigns across several channels (like paid social and paid search), product types (iOS, Android, and web), and languages. You’re able to take a quickly growing program and keep it organized and on track as we scale budgets, launch new product types and features, and run experiments. You pride yourself on being detail-oriented and having a high bar for quality, but feel comfortable moving quickly to iterate and learn more in a given month.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be spending time in-platform monitoring performance across channels, finding new opportunities to drive further growth, running experiments, and shipping new creative. You’re eager to dive in, and feel excited about managing the ins-and-outs of paid marketing within a quickly-growing start-up.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 – 5+ years of experience working in a performance marketing role, with a specialization in paid social and / or paid search.

  • A desire to move quickly and experiment, with a good nose for impact. You like testing things, but also have a good sense of which tests are impactful (and which aren’t).

  • A comfort with and desire to pull your own metrics; you have experience building out spreadsheets or other systems that help you monitor performance and pacing, and can slice and dice data as needed (whether that’s pulled from in-platform data, an MMP like AppsFlyer, or a product analytics tool like Mixpanel).

  • An ability to make thoughtful budget decisions, balancing spend across channels and campaigns, and thinking through incrementality and attribution.

  • Experience working cross-functionally, closely collaborating with functions ranging from Creator Relations and Brand Design to Engineering and Analytics.

  • A technical understanding of how to set up conversion tracking across various channels and platforms (iOS, web, Android); you feel comfortable executing parts independently, and guiding Engineering teams where you need help.

  • A high level of organization; you’re adept at juggling multiple tasks and priorities, and have a system to ensure things don’t slip through the cracks.

  • A comfort operating as a one-person show where needed, which includes writing strong, succinct copy.

Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans

  • Anything you need to do your best work

  • We’ve done team off-sites to places like Paris, London, Park City, Los Angeles, Upstate NY, and Nashville with more planned in the future.
