REPORTS TO: Executive Chef
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Chef, Utility Staff are responsible for washing pots, pans, flatware, glasses, and miscellaneous equipment used in the preparation of meals. Utility Staff assist with processing orders and general food preparation. The position is also responsible for the general cleanliness of the kitchen, dining room, loading dock and surrounding areas.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Washes and sanitizes all pots, pans, equipment, flatware, glasses, and food service-related wares.
- Cleans, organizes, and sanitizes the dish room, pot sink surfaces, equipment, and floors.
- Using the daily schedule, maintains the cleanliness of the dining hall, kitchen, coolers, dry storage areas, loading dock (where orders are received), and surrounding areas.
- As a 24-hour operation, all staff may be asked to work weekends, evenings, or night shifts and/or holidays in order to serve our members, guests, and program participants.
- Any other duties, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as kitchen staff, including dishwasher, is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to follow directions and meet food service health and safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to be alert, thorough, detail-oriented, and work effectively with others in a noisy and fast-paced environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop or kneel for prolonged periods; must be physically able to access and navigate all areas of dining and catering services. Other physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds at a time and to work in excessive heat, damp and cold, as required in association with the kitchen environment.
