Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

Dishwasher/Prep Cooks are responsible for maintaining the efficient workflow of the kitchen by cleaning and sanitizing dishes, removing waste such as compost and trash, and participating in cleaning activities as assigned. Dishwasher/Prep Cooks also prep ingredients for production, package completed products, and have an opportunity to build more advanced skills through training in other areas of the kitchen. This position plays a critical role in the Prepared Foods Department by maintaining safety, efficiency, and cleanliness throughout the shift.


This role may accommodate both Full and Part Time hours.

Full Time: 30 hours minimum

Part Time: 18 - 29 hours


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintains the efficient workflow of the kitchen by cleaning and sanitizing dishes

  • Sets up and breaks down dish station as scheduled, ensuring that appropriate sanitation measures are in place
  • Washes and sanitizes dishes throughout the shift, maintaining an appropriate supply of needed items for efficient production
  • Re-sets dish station as needed, changing water, drying surfaces, and clearing space to maximize efficiency and safety

Removes waste such as compost, trash, and recyclable materials

  • Disposes of items appropriately, according to department SOPs
  • Plans waste removal to ensure efficient functioning of the kitchen and attention to other responsibilities
  • Cleans and sanitizes bins and containers according to department SOPs

Preps ingredients for use in production, and packages completed products

  • Uses kitchen equipment safely and efficiently to complete tasks
  • Preps ingredients as directed, in a manner that maintains product integrity and adheres to food safety guidelines
  • Packages completed products according to department SOPs

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Preferred:

  • Experience with dishwashing in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of food safety guidelines
  • Basic knife skills

This job requires work in a kitchen environment, including the use of knives, cleaning chemicals such as bleach, and exposure to varied temperatures such as walk-in cooler, walk-in freezer, proximity to dish sanitizer, and proximity to commercial oven. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must be able to maintain focus in an environment that has multiple levels of noise, and the need to prioritize demands for attention.
