In partnership with private equity firm Access Holdings (“Access”), Zeus will conduct a high velocity buy-and-build and value creation strategy to support and create a leader in the fire safety and security market. In 2022, Zeus acquired Alert Alarm Holdings (“Alert”) and Universal Atlantic Systems (“UAS”). Alert operates under Alert Alarm (based out of Hawaii) and SMG Security (based out of Chicago) brands. These two operating subsidiaries provide integration, monitoring, managed services, inspections, and maintenance & repairs for fire systems including fire alarms, sprinklers, and suppression and security systems including intrusion alarms, CCTV cameras, and access control for commercial, high-end residential and gov’t and military clients. UAS is based out of Paoli, PA (just outside Philadelphia) and is a premier provider of Video Surveillance-as-a-Service focused on national accounts. They also provide managed services, monitoring and verification for low-voltage fire and intrusion systems, and access control, serving the Quick-Serve Restaurant, Big-Box-Retail and Outdoor Protection Industries. UAS protects $15B of assets for a customer base that is 100% commercial and includes businesses such as McDonalds, Panera, Five Guys, United Rentals, and Pizza Hut.

Role Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and performing various accounting related tasks to assist in the accurate and timely preparation and reporting of financial data. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, and ensure data accuracy. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciles bank accounts and balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries, such as monthly accruals, deferrals, payroll entries, and intercompany charges.
  • Assists the month-end and year-end closes.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
  • Supports internal and external auditors with gathering necessary account information and documents to assist the annual audits.
  • Documents existing processes and makes appropriate recommendations for process improvements.
  • Supports key company financial processes and controls governing cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory management, accruals, project reporting, revenue recognition, and other processes as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Maintains company confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in general ledger accounting, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment.
