NOW CFO is seeking a highly-skilled, operational CFO to join our consulting team in Portland. This dual-role position requires expertise in both Controller and CFO responsibilities, providing comprehensive financial leadership to our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the full spectrum of financial and accounting activities, including hands-on controller tasks as necessary.
  • Develop and implement robust financial controls and budgets to minimize risk and enhance investment returns.
  • Lead all aspects of accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), General Ledger (GL), Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition, with a focus on complex and significant tasks.
  • Direct and support the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized system of accounting records and methods, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct internal audits for thorough financial analysis and risk assessment.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations, focusing on key compliance areas.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the operational elements of financial audits.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership, including financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to support business growth and profitability.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee cash flow management, capital structure, and financial risk management.
  • Lead financial reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (BS/BA/MBA).
  • Significant experience in accounting and financial management, with a proven track record in a Controller role.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles and procedures, with a strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of operating effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a hands-on approach.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication.
  • Highly attentive to details, with a commitment to precision in all work aspects.
  • CPA certification (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in public accounting (preferred but not required).
