Redwire Space, Chantilly, VA has an opportunity for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support the development of high-quality solutions for small satellite programs. As an SME, extensive experience with all phases of the space systems development process including requirements definition, system and spacecraft interfaces, system and spacecraft design, integration, test, verification and validation, and mission operations for Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) and Software is required.
Responsibilities:
\t- Applying an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
\t - Serving as a focal point for technical issues and functions, and coordination between engineering teams.
\t - Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters/algorithms, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
\t - Create, Track, Maintain Requirements in Jama Tool.
\t - Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
\t - Lead the resolution of technical issues with other SMEs and product team.
\t - Mentor Systems Engineering Team.
\t - Support design/development of test tooling (simulation, models, report/analysis tools, EGSE) for SW and HW testing.
\t - Write technical policies, procedures, and documentation.
\t - Support business development efforts for proposals/bids.
Ideal Experience:
\t- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field is required and a minimum of 16-18 years’ experience in a broad background in systems engineering; Will consider a Master’s degree with 15 years related experience.
\t - Experience leading the development of space systems for challenging environments and missions.
\t - Experience with MBSE (Model Based System Engineering).
\t - Experience with NASA/DoD lifecycle reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR).
\t - Experience with requirement tracking tools such as DOORs, Jama, Cradle.
\t - US citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Desired Skills:
\t- Familiarity with configuration management practices.
\t - Effective communication skills with the ability to interface with the team and organization and prioritize tasks, projects, and personnel from a variety of disciplines.
\t - Possesses a broad background in systems engineering.
\t - Experience using software tools for performing complex analyses (Excel, MatLab, custom tools).
