Job Description

Accounts Receivable Accountant – Hartford, CT

About the Company and Opportunity:

Location: Hartford, CT -- Safe location, boarding West Hartford


Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-hour workday each day where candidates must be available during core hours of 9:30 am – 4:00pm. The schedule outside of core hours has flexibility.


Responsibilities of the Accounts Receivable Accountant:

  • 40% of time will be preparing, reviewing and mailing customers invoices
  • Frequent from online daily donations plus mailed checks weekly that need to be deposited – in a month no more than 10-30 mailed checks except at year)
  • Grants 3-10/year – this position is only responsible for depositing checks from the grants
  • Registration revenue (usually have 3 events/year) which is all done by credit card online and the AR Specialist grabs the batch deposits
  • 35% of time preparing checks for deposit, data entry and database review (currently tracking in Excel, and they use Salesforce.com (donations and grants are tracked through a different dept), but eventually will be converting to Salesforce for AR
  • 15% time – point of contact for any customer payment questions from staff or customers, research invoices if necessary
  • 10% of time – additional accounting and administrative projects

Preferred Qualifications of the Accounts Receivable Accountant:

  • 3+ years of accounts receivable experience
  • Nonprofit experience is strongly preferred (may be flexible for candidates with strong AR background)
  • Experience utilizing MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Earned revenue experience in the non-profit industry would be a plus but is not required
  • Experience creating a process for new revenue stream would be a plus
  • Degree is a plus but not required for candidates with equivalent work experience
  • SharePoint experience is a plus
