Day and Overnight, and Relief Shifts Available

Responsibilities:

Patient Care Support: Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to ICU patients.
Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized ICU environment, including cleaning kennels, changing bedding, and disinfecting surfaces. Adhere to proper infection control protocols.
Equipment and Supply Preparation: Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications required for ICU procedures and treatments.
Assisting with Procedures: Assist the veterinary team during specialized ICU procedures, such as venipuncture, arterial blood gas sampling, urinary catheterization, and wound management.
Patient Monitoring: Observe and report changes in patient behavior, appetite, or physical condition to the veterinary team.
Treatment Assistance: Aid in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed by the veterinary team.
Recordkeeping: Accurately document patient information, treatments, and observations in medical records.
Client Communication: Provide friendly and professional communication with pet owners, answering general inquiries, relaying messages, and providing updates on patient care as directed by the veterinary team.
Facility Assistance: Provide support to other departments or areas of the hospital as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the veterinary facility.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a veterinary ICU or critical care setting.
Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of ICU procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner.
Compassion and Empathy: Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress.
Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physically demanding aspects of the job, including lifting, restraining, and assisting with the transportation of patients.
Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills and attention to detail to accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Availability: No on-call duty is required.
