Reports to the Executive Director of Quality or designee. Responsible for managing and coordinating continuous performance improvement efforts to achieve Beacons clinical excellence strategic initiatives to promote patient outcomes. Directs the utilization of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to address clinical effectiveness, reduce process variation and sustain improvements across the clinical enterprise. Acts as a change agent with a focus on working with clinical leaders to document, track and sustain the impact of process improvement solutions.

Directs and coordinates continuous improvement efforts to achieve Beacons clinical excellence strategy by:

  • Partnering with key stakeholders to identify and to select opportunities for reducing inefficiencies, streamline process and build standardization. Manages scope of projects to assure connection with clinical strategies and speed of change.
  • Evaluating existing processes and tools across the clinical enterprise to identify areas for innovation or improvement.
  • Promoting the use of data and metrics for identifying improvement opportunities and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional clinical teams to implement Lean/Six Sigma-driven process improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Supporting clinical leadership in promoting Lean/Six Sigma philosophy through training and utilization of industry best practices.

Directs the utilization of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to address clinical effectiveness, reduce process variation and sustain improvements across the clinical enterprise. Analyzes data to identify root causes and develop action plans to enhance patient outcomes by:

  • Ensuring improvement methodologies and approaches are appropriately applied and that effective metrics are being utilized. Identifies clearly defined metrics which are critical to the success of each key initiative.
  • Facilitating advanced problem-solving and analysis of specific improvement opportunities leading to the implementation of effective sustainable solutions.
  • Prioritizing standardization and sustainment of process improvement results across multiple clinical care sites.
  • Developing tools and strategies for training, education, and knowledge transfer to embed performance improvement throughout the clinical enterprise.

Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:

  • Acting as a resource to other department members to address day to day issues relating to infection prevention, quality outcomes and patient safety.
  • Participating in Hospital committees as designated.
  • Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:

  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.

Education and Experience

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities ad indicated below are normally acquire through the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field. Masters degree preferred. Black Belt certification required. A minimum of 5 years of job-related experience leading performance improvement initiatives with the utilization of Lean/Six Sigma philosophies, tools and techniques.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering performance related results through application of process improvement methodologies and effective change management.
  • Ability to synthesize, simplify, and standardize complex concepts/processes and connect solutions across the clinical enterprise.
  • Expert competencies in the Lean/Six Sigma tools with demonstrated proficiencies.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills with proven ability to establish and monitor project metrics.
  • Flexible, resilient and able to achieve results in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong facilitator, with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates well-developed communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Requires the ability to prioritize and to handle a multitude of assignments at one time.
