General Description: Outside sales position responsible for driving new business sales as well as the growth of existing client revenue.

Responsibilities:
  1. Achieve annual new business sales goals of $100K in our target market of companies/ firms.
  2. Demonstrate technical knowledge necessary to communicate our solutions effectively to a noninsurance buyer.
  3. Required to meet with external centers of influence to prospect and engage. Serve as a value-added service that is provided to the clients of the center of influence.
  4. Facilitate networking sessions with law firms and other respective associations to build COIs.
  5. Identify prospects and address industry risks, concerns, and unique insurance market needs/ requirements. Provide expertise and advice of tailored insurance solutions to meeting customer/ prospect needs.
  6. Maintain prospect pipeline of known policy expiration dates (X-dates). Develop new prospects through face-to-face meetings and phone prospecting.
  7. Plan for and participate in meetings focused on earning first appointments, preparing for first appointments, and closing business.
  8. Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management systems.
  9. Champion client cross-selling initiatives and develop customer accounts.
  10. Complete and submit sales and production reports to management as requested.
  11. Attend weekly sales meetings, engagement day, and customer/association events as required.
  12. Develop and deploy sales and marketing strategies along with periodic communications to optimize USI’s position in the marketplace.
  13. Positively represent USI in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.
  14. Identify and overcome sales obstacles on a prospect-specific basis.
  15. Act as subject matter expert in identified business solutions.
  16. Demonstrate proficiency in the discovery process and promoting USI’s competitive differentiation.
  17. Ability to travel more than 50% of the time to meet with identified COIs, networks, associations, prospects and clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. 3-5 years of experience in insurance brokerage, carrier, or related sales experience, including calling on senior executives and a track record of financial success.
  2. Property & Casualty license is preferred or the ability to obtain one within 60 days.
  3. Proven ability to perform in a sales-focused environment working with a strong team preferred.
  4. Strong and/or developing knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance coverages.
  5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  6. Goal-oriented and motivated to achieve sales goals.
  7. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  8. Consultative, positive, and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients, and associates.
  9. Excellent listening skills with strong customer focus.
  10. Ability to deal with senior level management and have a top-level executive presence.
