Job Description

As our new Chief or Senior Consultant you will be part of our Offshore Substations (OSS) / Electrical competence group within Project Development & Advisory (PD&A). You will take on a key role as subject matter expert shaping and enhancing our service delivery. Our assignments are of a diverse nature with both well-known and new market players, joint ventures and investment funds, and cover a broad scope of services as well as potential combination with other technologies, such as Power-to-X, where we would make use of the wider Ramboll expertise.

Within Ramboll, over 500 highly qualified experts are working on onshore and offshore wind projects globally, operating primarily from our 15 key offices across the Nordics, Germany, UK, Poland, Spain, Japan and the US.

Your tasks
  1. Lead and support the definition and business case preparation for the OSS scope within origination and early development projects supporting our clients on identifying the most suitable technical concept as per the corresponding site conditions, grid connection, local market conditions (e.g., localization requirements) and risk appetite.
  2. Provide strategic advice in areas related to transmission system including the design, configuration, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of offshore substations in a varied range of assignments, covering but not limited to supporting our clients in shaping winning strategies for auction processes or in major investment projects for supply chain market entry.
  3. Deliver technical due diligence assignments supporting large and complex finance transitions taking responsibility over the foundations scope.
  4. Take the role of Package Manager for the OSS scope, within our Owner's Engineer service delivery, with responsibility over package interfaces, programme, risk and change management process, managing and supporting a multidisciplinary project team covering electrical (HV, MV and LV), mechanical (lifting, HVAC, firefighting, etc.), communications (SCADA, etc.), safety and structural sub-packages.
  5. Lead the technical preparation, coordination, and management of the OSS scope tendering processes in collaboration with external stakeholders and our clients, including review of offers and their subsequent technical evaluation.
  6. Support standardization processes and initiatives across the PD&A team aiming at developing standard and modular technical requirements for the contracting of the offshore substation scope in international projects.
Your qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; a master's degree or other advanced degree is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 10 years (Chief) / 4-10 years (Senior) of relevant professional experience in consulting or project management.
  3. Substantial experience in offshore wind project development, execution and / or operation within a project developer organisation or in an Owner's Engineer role within the relevant field.
  4. Profound industry knowledge and an understanding of design and engineering, project economics, interfaces, risks and commercial aspects of offshore wind farm development.
  5. Experience in negotiating complex construction contracts would be beneficial.
  6. Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated to offshore construction projects.
  7. Proven track record, industry reputation and network.
  8. High level of proficiency in written and spoken English; additional languages are beneficial.
  9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.
  10. Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions that promote / advance company goals and objectives.
  11. Good writing and communication skills with an eye for analytical and persuasive presentations.
  12. Track record of presenting technical options to clients, ideally including evaluation of options on cost basis.
