POSITION PURPOSE:

The Instructional Designer will design and create engaging learning activities, course content, e-learning resources, on-the-job training programs, and instructor-led training programs to support field operations learning and development. This position collaborates with subject matter experts, applies instructional design theories and methods, and is solely responsible for managing EPL’s Learning Management System - Pollo Zone.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute learning strategies and programs.
  • Leverage multimedia tools to drive engagement, enhance the learning process, and facilitate knowledge retention.
  • Manage Pollo Zone content for strategic design, functionality, and content updates.
  • Evaluate individual and organizational development needs.
  • Design and deliver e-learning courses, workshops, and other training assets.
  • Film and edit training videos as needed, based on feedback from field operations subject matter experts.
  • Develop and create training resources for field operations and maintain/update systems training environment and library of training resources to align with operational excellence standards.
  • Maintain digital asset management including file management and distribution.
  • Collaborate with the internal team and actively participate in project briefings.
  • Track, monitor and provide updates for all assigned projects.
  • Train stakeholders on how to use learning technologies.
  • Work with technical team to troubleshoot problems reported by users.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Education/Work Experience:

An AA degree is required, but a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in an Instructional Design role or relevant experience is also required. Restaurant or hospitality experience is a plus.

License/Certifications:

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Writing, training, filming, film editing, and/or web/graphic design experience is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of instructional theory and learning management systems.
  • High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, HTML, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Video Editor, animation software, customized database applications, and internet research tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret complex reports, documents, and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.
  • Adept at managing and prioritizing competing time-sensitive requests while working well in a team atmosphere that may be under pressure.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance to the company.

The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. Individual pay will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.
