As an Electrical Group Leader - Power and Substations, you will be leading our team designing unique power projects, including combined heat and power, renewables, grid storage, and large district energy thermal systems and utility substations. This position also works closely with our Transmission & Distribution Group. We are looking for an experienced and energetic leader who enjoys guiding the technical and financial performance of the group and working in a team environment.

SOME OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage technical direction and workload for our team of electrical engineers and designers located in multiple locations across the US by reviewing project technical requirements, holding weekly meetings, evaluating workloads, and approving timecards.
  2. Respond to Requests for Proposals from clients and other company groups and offices. Take lead responsibility for developing scope of work, labor effort, and cost for client provided RFPs.
  3. Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance tasks for large projects and assist project leads with unique situations and demands.
  4. Create, review, and seal as required electrical designs for different phases of projects including schematic design, design development, and construction documents in accordance with the Electrical Department’s procedures and standards and specific client standards, where applicable.
  5. Manage utilization of Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD-3D, and Substation Design Suite to model electrical system components and systems in accordance with the Department and client’s procedures and standards.
  6. Be knowledgeable of and manage utilization of electrical power programs such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, CDEGS, and AGI32 lighting software.
  7. Strong understanding of laying out switchyards through 500kV, electrical gear and spaces, sizing branch circuits, laying out devices, lighting layout, and circuitry, including lighting controls, in accordance with the Energy Codes.
  8. Knowledgeable of associated Codes and Standards, including the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, IBC, IECC, and the NEC.
  9. Project Management, including Construction Administration activities such as management of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and Shop Drawing reviews.
  10. Extensive understanding of electrical construction procedures and systems/materials used in constructing electrical systems and components.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communications skills to support team coordination activities.
  12. Conduct annual reviews for employees and implement performance improvement plans for employees performing below expectations.
  13. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  14. Mentorship to younger personnel.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems. Professional Registration required.
  2. Minimum of 15 years of experience designing and managing electrical systems in the Substation and Power Industry. Strong understanding of the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, IBC, and IECC.
  3. The candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  4. Fluency in Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
