Job Description

As a Nuclear Technologist, you will prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  1. The candidate must prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment, under the direction of a physician.
  2. Use the specific equipment needed to produce photographic or computer images to be interpreted by the physician.
  3. Perform cardiac scanning to check for areas showing signs of abnormality using SPECT and PET imaging.
  4. The duties of a PET/ Nuclear Technologist also include conducting patient history taking and answering all relevant queries before the procedure.
  5. Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received. Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and cameras.
  6. Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment. Dispose of radioactive materials following guidelines. Record and process studies using computer/camera.
  7. Explain test procedures and safety precautions to the patients and provide them with assistance during the test procedures.
  8. Develop treatment procedures for nuclear medicine treatment programs. Maintain all records and assist with accreditation of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) and/or
  2. Nuclear Medicine Technology RT(N)
  3. Colorado State License
  4. ARRT Registration or NMTCB required

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Experience in the Cardiology field

Work Environment:

This position is a clinical position.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds.
