A Day in the Life

A career at Medtronic is like no other. We are looking for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer who will be a part of our Global Supplier Quality team. This is a remote position open to candidates that are based within the US.

As the Principal Supplier Quality Engineer , you will:

  1. Support Released Product Management (RPM) projects to ensure that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.
  2. Qualify suppliers utilizing global PPAP procedures and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness.
  3. Ensure suppliers meet requirements for the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and fill any gaps identified.
  4. Guide cross-functional teams through risk evaluation and documentation as needed.
  5. Evaluate suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provide feedback in assessment of their operation.
  6. Work in partnership with other functions on supplier transfers or cost savings initiatives, to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects, and allow Medtronic to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products.
  7. Provide technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the product lifecycle and implement strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
  8. Collaborate with multiple functions to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, and Control Plans for new products.
  9. Define Receiving Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for all internal Medtronic Test Methods.
  10. Conduct root cause investigation and Supplier CAPA management as needed.
  11. Coach and mentor colleagues within Supplier Quality and other functions.
  12. Drive project strategy for Supplier Quality input to RPM projects as assigned.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, please ensure the following is evident on your resume:

  1. Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience.

Nice to Have

  • ASQ CSQP and/or CQE certification.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Strong experience working across an organization using written and verbal skills to communicate and understand cross-functional teams, interactions, and responsibilities.
  • Experience working in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment.

Travel: less than 25%.
