Sr. Director, HR Business Partner, Global Operations

Job Summary

We're looking for a strategic HR leader to join our Client Services organization. In this role, you will directly support our Head of Global Operations and lead a team of HR Business partners serving different parts of our Operations environment. This leader is responsible for understanding complex, multifaceted, and multi-regional needs and translating them into people outcomes. The successful candidate will partner closely with the Head of Global Operations and their leadership team to surface and drive strategic points of alignment against shared business accountabilities and outcomes.

As a strategic people leader, you will lead a team of HR business partners to translate business strategy and requirements into a holistic HR strategy, plans, and objectives for the Global Operations organization. You will work closely with the Client Services leadership team to ensure the right blend of enterprise, regional, and local market requirements are represented in strategies and plans, along with other HR colleagues and teams.

Responsibilities

Influence and deliver people strategy to serve business outcomes:

  1. Strategic partner and trusted advisor to the EVP, Global Operations, accountable to define and execute talent strategies and outcomes that enable the business strategy and outcomes.

  2. Develop in-depth knowledge of the business, both strategically and operationally, to build consultative partnerships with executives.

  3. Through authenticity, establish credibility to problem solve and coach as a member of the leadership team, as well as challenge the team to think differently and boldly.

  4. Partner with the business leaders to maximize organizational effectiveness.

  5. Leverage expertise in organization design, team development, talent/workforce planning, and change management to maintain a culture that optimizes employee experience and the passion and potential of our employees.

  6. Lead cross-functional Global Operations people initiatives to drive for scale and agility of implementation and adoption.

  7. Inform and implement HR strategies and solutions that support the short and long-term business strategies and plan.

  8. Utilize data to drive strategy setting and decision making. Bring an objective perspective in managing business problems.

  9. Bring the right people and data together to shape insights and complete root cause diagnostics regarding people, organizational dynamics for the business, and translate this insight into sustainable solutions.

  10. Recognize and effectively balance the client group's interests with the needs of the company.

Team Leadership:

  1. Directly lead a team of HR Business Partners around the globe who provide strategic HR support to the Global Operations leadership team, solving business issues through talent solutions.

  2. Indirectly lead a team of COE representatives (Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Workforce Insights, etc.) dedicated to enabling the talent solutions for the Global Operations function, ensuring that all are provided with the appropriate business context to effectively execute on talent plans.

  3. Demonstrate high aptitude for people leadership including cultural awareness, empathy, and motivation techniques.

  4. Lead the partnership across COEs to build business context and identify solutions and strategies for talent needs. Orchestrate the delivery of solutions back to the business.

  5. Engage, guide, and align all cross-functional HR stakeholders on perspectives, plans, and approaches that will better enable achieving Global Operations business goals.

  6. Shape a collaborative, transparent, and commercially focused culture, in partnership with the HR leadership team.

  7. Motivate team around shared vision and value of the HR Operating Model to drive adoption.

Foster "Magic of Equinix" culture:

  1. Shape and cultivate the company's unique culture and values and integrate them into the fabric of the organization.

  2. Live the Equinix values and operating norms to model and strengthen culture from the top down.

Qualifications
  1. 15+ years of Human Resources experience with at least 5 years as Global Business Partner in an evolving global technology organization, as well as previous experience as an HRBP supporting a large field-based employee population.

  2. 7+ years of experience leading and managing a client-facing HR team.

  3. Experience leading organizational design, change management, and organizational effectiveness preferred.

  4. Excellent ability to source, synthesize, and interpret data and context to tell a story and influence decision makers.

  5. Experience leading a large global organization comprised of multiple global functions through enterprise-wide transformation.

  6. Experience in HR leadership as a Strategic HR Business Partner, preferably in the technology sector.

  7. Experience with change management, executing global HR programs.

  8. Broad depth of experience across all HR concentrations.

  9. Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a bias towards action and solutions in line with business goals.

  10. Ability to travel to the operating locations, approximately 20%.
