Purpose of Position:

The Store Manager is responsible for overall store management, enhancing the customer experience, meeting sales and profitability goals, and managing staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop business strategies to raise our customer pool, expand store traffic, increase market share, and optimize profitability.
  2. Meet sales goals by training and providing feedback to sales staff.
  3. Ensure high level of customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  4. Maintain and review inventory, labor, department, and store sales reports.
  5. Oversee and audit cycle counts and price changes.
  6. Review and sign off on gun log paperwork and keep store compliant with all ATF regulations.
  7. Oversee opening and closing procedures.
  8. Manage the Pro-Form, Spiff, and ExpertVoice programs.
  9. Manage store events, hours, and employment opportunities on the Company website.
  10. Oversee sales training program, ensuring that all employees receive the required training on a semi-annual basis.
  11. Supervise merchandising of entire store ensuring that the entire store is clean, faced, and straight at all times.
  12. Work closely with buying staff to recognize sales trends and customer needs.
  13. Train and develop the Department Managers in their daily duties; including hiring, personnel coaching, and management to assess training needs and build career paths.
  14. Enter and maintain Department Manager schedules in time and attendance system and back up payroll functions in Office Manager’s absence.
  15. Work with the Facility Manager to maintain the appearance and functionality of the inside and outside of building and grounds, approve and manage all wildlife mounts displayed in the store.
  16. Address all issues that arise from staff or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.).
  17. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven successful experience as a retail manager.
  2. Powerful leading skills and business orientation.
  3. Strong organizational skills.
  4. Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Education/Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a retail store manager required, preferably in the outdoor industry.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position manages Department Managers in the store.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

The work environment characteristics and physical demands described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position is considered moderately active and involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, and stoop/kneel to grab items from the floor.

The employee may be required to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, and light traffic).

Travel Requirements:

This position may require some travel.
