The Clinical Director for School Based Behavioral Health Services (CDSBBH) is responsible for providing clinical leadership and supervision of the Behavioral Health provider staff and of Behavioral Health care clinical operations within School Based Behavioral Health Services. The CDSBBH works with the Regional Directors (RDs) to oversee and assist them in their roles as direct clinical care providers, supervisors of their team members, representatives of CHC to their schools and communities, advocates for their team members, and leaders in the Behavioral Health program at CHC. The CDSBBH reports to the Chief Behavioral Health Officer for all clinical issues, working collaboratively with other CHC Behavioral Health Directors under the direction of the CHBO and coordinates closely with the Director of the School Based Health Programs in administrative, policy, and departmental matters. This position is a full-time 40 hour per week position for 205 days (including 20 days over the summer or when school is not in session).

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides consultation and direction to Regional Directors in clinical, administrative, and personnel areas. All RDs report directly to the CDSBBH who completes yearly performance evaluations.
  • Works collaboratively with SBHC leadership to develop and implement departmental goals.
  • Facilitates two-way communication between agency leadership and SBHC RDs/staff.
  • Reviews clinical outcome metrics for the department and collaborates with School Based leadership, School Based RDs, CHC on-site Behavioral Health Directors, and Chief Behavioral Health Officer to identify and achieve clinical goals.
  • Active member of the CHC Behavioral Health leadership team that meets regularly with the Chief Behavioral Health Officer (CBHO) to discuss both agency-wide and department-specific issues.
  • Active member of the SBHC leadership team that meets regularly with SBHC leadership to identify, formulate, and monitor the achievement of SBHC departmental goals.
  • Supports RDs as they work with staff to achieve high quality of care, including enforcing staff accountability for adhering to all CHC policies and procedures and compliance requirements, which may involve intervention with Human Resources as needed.
  • Completes references or other needed documents for Regional Director’s re-credentialing.
  • Maintains a 0.4 FTE case load to meet school/student needs and expectations.
  • Assists RDs in their collaboration with SBHC Program Managers for completion of licensing requirements for new scope/locations each year.
  • Oversees the clinical orientation of new clinicians to the site in conjunction with the RDs and departmental leadership.
  • Meets with clinical staff members to provide supervision and support where needed, assuming a collaborative and mentoring role with RDs.
  • Reviews timesheets and approves time off requests for assigned staff.
  • Works with RDs to ensure departmentally that contracted school based employees are meeting their contractual obligation of 195 days.
  • Coordinates and supports RDs in launching on-site clinical quality improvement activities, including the support of patient and parent stakeholder satisfaction surveys, as well as peer reviews.
  • Monitors expected productivity for the program and works with RDs and/or clinical staff to make improvements where necessary.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisals for assigned staff.
  • Completes 90-day probationary review for new RDs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Skills and Education
  • Ph.D./Psy.D, LCSW, LPC or LMFT licensure at the independent practitioner level
  • At least 1 year of experience within SBHC as a supervisor
  • Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Currently licensed in the State of Connecticut at the independent practice level

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Combination of sustained periods of sitting at keyboard, walking and stair climbing
  • Minimal lifting and carrying activities
