Our client is a dynamic education organization located in the Bay Area. We seek a mission driven and strategic HR Director consultant to manage and oversee day-to-day HR operations and HR staff.

The ideal HR professional is experienced in mentoring and coaching at all levels within the organization, with subject matter expertise in development and proven success in performance management.

  • Responsible for oversight and management of HR day to day operations and HR team.
  • Provide visionary leadership in HR practices, talent management, workforce planning, inclusive excellence, and organizational development.
  • Develop and maintain the complete cycle of an effective performance appraisal system that supports employee growth and accountability of all employees.
  • Create and ensure effective performance evaluations and feedback processes for all employees with proper documentation is adhered.
  • Oversee the Performance Management Process by tracking employee progress toward the organizational goals, evaluating employee performance, informing employees about their strengths and weaknesses, outlining development opportunities for improvement, and providing feedback on performance.
  • Actively coach and support supervisory staff on performance management operations and policies.
  • Oversee & manage employee relations, facilitate resolution of employee concerns and grievances.
  • Promote a positive and respectful workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with Leadership & Staff to identify professional development needs for faculty and staff
  • Oversee the HR department, with recruitment and selection process to attract diverse, highly skilled candidates, including succession planning operations.
  • Foster and create strategies to ensure a positive work environment by promoting open communication, conflict resolution, and a culture of respect and valuing all identities.
  • Lead investigations and resolutions of employee relations issues and complaints, ensuring the maintenance of records, and engaging external legal counsel for review, as needed.
  • Oversee benefits administration, including benefits enrollment, claims to process, and customer service. In addition, create programs that encourage employee health and wellness.
  • Develop and implement an annual training and development program to enhance employee skills and promote career growth.
  • Stay updated on California Labor laws and regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies as required.

  • Ability to develop and manage the HR department's budget efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team and other senior leaders to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, values and goals.
  • Provide strategic business partnership, thought partnership, and coaching to all levels of the organization on people-related matters including career mapping, succession planning, organization effectiveness, and high-performing team dynamics

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, related field, with SPHR/SHRM-SCP Certification (preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HR management, team leadership, within hypergrowth environments
  • Proven successful experience in the strategic development of The Appraisal Kit Roll Out for hypergrowth teams
  • Demonstrated expertise of human resource principles and best practices, knowledge of CA State & Federal Employment Law
  • Proficiency within Employee relations experience including investigations, wage and hour issues, and responding to claims.
  • Strong leadership qualities and able to model positive leadership for both the department and the overall organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels in the organization, with excellent business acumen – verbal & written
  • Capable to effectively deal with multiple priorities, functions, and activities.
  • Working knowledge and skill of basic business software, including word processing, spreadsheet and database tracking systems.
  • Systems experience in HRIS systems experience, in MS Office, Google Suite, MS Excel proficiency
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments, ability to work with some ambiguity, highly resourceful, flexible & nimble, capable of managing multiple projects, prioritization, highly adaptive & team collaborative
