Position Summary:

  • Revolution Space is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team in this full-time, permanent position located at our headquarters in Boston (Charlestown). The primary focus of the role is to create and maintain financial and accounting processes that enable the executive team to make rapid, well-informed decisions to drive achievement of the financial goals of the company. Working closely with our Director of Finance and Operations, key tasks include financial and managerial accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management:
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
    • Prepare journal entries for various transactions and adjustments.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoice verification, coding, and payment processing.
    • Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding balances, and ensure timely collections.
    • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
    • Monitor and record bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Compliance and Audit:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, policies, and procedures, with a particular focus on government contracting regulations such as FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement), and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
    • Collaborate with the contract management team to maintain accurate contract billing and compliance records.
    • Assist in internal and external audits related to government contracts, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Support financial analysis efforts by providing relevant data and reports to aid decision-making processes.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, particularly those related to government contracting compliance.
    • Recommend and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations for government contracts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Accountant or related role, with a proven track record in government contracting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Aerospace/Defense or Manufacturing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and CAS.
