The Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow conducts diagnostic evaluations with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and other childhood behavioral/mental health conditions. The Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow also provides individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and groups services (social skills) for children, adolescents, and young adults. Additionally, the Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow is responsible for conducting psychological testing with clients on an as needed basis to assess progress across several domains (clinical updates). These duties are all under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

Essential Functions:

Conducts diagnostic interviews and evaluations with children and adolescents to answer a variety of referral question s related to developmental and psychological presentations, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities . Administers, scores , and interprets required psychological testing . Writes psychological testing reports as request ed and reports are completed within guidelines and in accordance with company policy . Provides individual, group, and f amily therapy to clients using evidence-based practices . Timely completion of progress notes and other documentation in accordance with company practices. Actively participates in peer review , consultation, and supervision . Participation in clinical supervision in accordance with state and local statutes and guidelines. Remains current on all new development s within the arena of evidence-based interventions to treat a variety of mental and behavioral health conditions. Assists with the monitoring of clinical quality organization-wide and promotes best practices . May consult with ABA teams within Caravel centers, including providing support with treatment planning, FBAs and programming problem-solving.

Travel Required:

Regular travel between regional clinics with some travel to clinics outside of the assigned region. Rare travel to client homes. Use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursed).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to a client who exhibits physically aggressive behavior which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The employee may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques frequently with a client under such circumstances. Such response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The employee will be constantly required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, hear, type and write. In addition, the employee will be exposed to normal office conditions and usual office equipment such as phone, computer, printers, copiers, files, etc. The employee must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision. Speech must be spoken in a way in which others will understand. This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from a regionally accredited institution
  • Unl icensed and pursuing licensure by obtaining required supervised hours in the state where position is located


Experience:
  • E xperience to include:
  • Focus on children and adolescents
  • Psychological testing related to ASD and other developmental delays
  • Specific experience administering, scoring , and interpreting a wide range of developmental, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments
  • Writing high quality diagnostic testing reports in a timely manner
  • Providing effective i ndividual psychotherapy to children and adolescents and f amily therapy

  • Natural ability to interact with children. Skilled in carefully observing children and young people and respond to what they might be communicating through their behavior and play
  • Proficient at working with families. Knowledgeable in multiple systemic interventions. Skilled at identifying systemic issues and supporting families through their resolution.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Works cohesively within a team environment in order to deal with complex client problems
  • Demonstrate skills in the areas of coaching, mentoring, and leading others
  • Excellent verbal, written , and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong client - centered focus, with the desire to meet and exceed client expectations
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and abide by ethical guidelines and policies , including compliance with HIPA A laws and regulations
  • Maintains professional boundaries with clients and their families , representing the organization in a professional manner
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to meet scheduling commitments
