Psychiatry Regional Business Director- South Central

SUMMARY:

As a Regional Business Director (RBD – 2nd Line Leader) you will be responsible for leading field-based Area Sales Manager (ASM) and Account Manager teams to drive the sale and promotion of Lundbeck products in a distinct geographical region. You will utilize robust analytic skills in the development and execution of regional strategies and tactics, including the identification of strengths that will create success and weaknesses/threats which need to be minimized. As an RBD, you are responsible for meeting or exceeding sales goals and achieving all other financial and operational goals. Working with your ASMs, you will execute the defined strategies and tactics, including but not limited to: business planning and performance metrics, alliance partnership and management, resource planning and allocation, managed market access and pull-through, and leadership and management of the sales force. You will also lead the business in a manner which ensures compliance with all Lundbeck business guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops and executes comprehensive plans to support the short- and long-term sales and revenue plans of the organization.
  2. Ensures business planning execution by the regional sales team via monitoring/reporting sales performance against key performance metrics. Adjusts metrics/targets as appropriate. Utilizes reports and other approaches to conduct business reviews and coaching, and maintain highest levels of overall sales performance to desired objectives.
  3. Partners with Alliance partners to develop integrated strategic business plans and to ensure commercial execution.
  4. Organizes, plans, conducts and attends various sales and sales management meetings.
  5. Works closely with Psychiatry marketing department to provide appropriate level of input, as well as to hold the responsibility for sales implementation of marketing plans.
  6. Coordinates with the Market Access and reimbursement team to ensure coordination of priorities and efforts between the payer and sales groups.
  7. Leads budgeting and expense management for regional sales team.
  8. Performs field travel to meet the key customers and customer groups to understand needs, solve problems, develop relevant strategies and actions, and monitor the performance of sales team.
  9. Executes a talent strategy which includes the development and engagement of the sales force, as well as succession planning.
  10. Partners with internal functions (e.g., sales training, marketing, sales operations, medical, government affairs) to provide important feedback and progress checks regarding trends, needs, reporting and competitive developments.
  11. Oversees the business planning systems implemented by the area sales management team.
  12. Responsible for additional home office responsibilities assigned by senior management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

  1. Accredited Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales people management experience, leading diversified sales teams with successful results.
  3. Preference for the RBD to live in the region; however, the RBD must live, at a minimum, in a region which shares a border and close to a major airport.
  4. Demonstrated ability to instill trust and drive results through others.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead a region and leadership team in creating and executing strategic plans.
  6. Ability to develop talent through the identification of development strategies and resources, with an emphasis on feedback and coaching.
  7. Robust financial acumen.
  8. Exceptional communication skills.
  9. Strong analytical capability.
  10. Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  11. Driving is an essential duty of this job; must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record that meets company requirements.
  12. Meeting and complying with reasonable industry-standard credentialing requirements of healthcare providers/customer facilities is required for continued employment with Lundbeck.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Accredited Master of Business Administration.
  2. Psychiatry product experience.
  3. 2+ years of second-line sales management.
  4. Marketing management, sales training management, or additional home office experiences.
  5. Previous experience working with alliance partners (i.e., co-promotions).
  6. Successful new product launch experience.

TRAVEL:

Willingness to travel up to 70% domestically to (a) regularly meet/interact with customer base and internal personnel within assigned region; and (b) typically attend internal/external conferences and meetings spanning locations within the United States. Travel must be able to be completed in a timely manner.
