Flatiron Construction is seeking a Segment Survey Manager to support a segment of the California High Speed Rail Project. This is a great opportunity to join an industry-leading organization that is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to build critical infrastructure projects. In this role, you will manage the survey team of the segment, providing technical input regarding engineering standards, specifications, design instructions and land mapping.


  • Provides work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff i.e., forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports, etc.
  • Insures that crews perform layout work competently and accurately.
  • Checks as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
  • Provides topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
  • Assists with conducting quantity calculations as required.
  • Monitors and maintains the condition and calibration of surveying equipment.
  • Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
  • Coordinates survey activities with the assigned engineer and superintendents to meet the construction requirements.
  • Manages survey department resources and department assigned budget.
  • Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan.
  • Support published corporate policies.

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geometrics or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in survey or land mapping required.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of land mapping and technical survey instrument techniques.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
