We specialize in determining the reasonable value of medical services using our large proprietary databases of provider charge data. The company primarily serves the legal industry. Specifically, we work with attorneys and insurance companies to help determine medical damages in civil litigation. Expert witness services represent a significant component of our service offerings; one in which we are looking to add capacity for continued growth.


Job Summary

AccuMed is looking for an operationally-minded professional willing to drive the development and growth of the company’s largest business segment; expert witness services. The position primarily consists of providing expert witness services to AccuMed’s clients. Additional duties would include client and employee education and training and eventually onboarding new expert witnesses. We are targeting life care planners, medical coding and billing specialists, economists, accountants, and finance professionals with a sound understanding of medical coding, data analytics, and statistics. Delivering our services entails leveraging AccuMed’s market-leading medical cost data and analytics platform to conduct analyses and form opinions. These services are disclosed at various points during the entire lifecycle of a civil case. Expert witness services include being disclosed to render an opinion on the reasonable value of medical costs, which would occasionally involve being deposed and testifying at trial. Candidates should be motivated to defend their opinions and supporting bases in court. This role is a key growth enabler for the organization and is expected to actively drive process and system improvement efforts along with overall market representation and leadership. 


Essential Duties

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Drive growth of the company’s largest segment through systems and processes, working directly with the President and the CEO
  • Collaborate with AccuMed’s Operations Team in producing reports that establish the reasonable value of medical damages.
  • Prepare clear, concise opinions attesting to AccuMed’s data and analytics’ methodologies and the results produced
  • Maintain quality control and accuracy of client deliverables
  • Execute depositions and trial testimony with composure and confidence
  • Oversee overall daily management of cases, including managing case timelines in conjunction with the client and the AccuMed Operations Team
  • Develop and maintain excellent client and referral relationships and actively pursue and assist in business development efforts
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of internal processes, procedures, policies, analytics, client-facing products and reports


Key Qualifications

Key qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Undergraduate degree with 5 years of professional experience
  • Previous professional experience in statistics, finance, accounting, data analytics, or economics
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Poised, composed and confident presence that isn’t easily rattled
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in order to meet fluctuating deadlines and pressure situations
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills (including the ability to develop narrative valuation/expert reports and other client communication materials)
  • Ability to build lasting relationships with clients
  • Proven orientation towards collective team performance
  • Ability to execute, work under pressure, operate in ambiguity and problem solve with a positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently on multiple engagements simultaneously with competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based environment
  • Flexibility to travel to client site as needed and ability to work beyond core business hours
  • The willingness to learn about medical coding and the certification needed to defend your credentials in court


Ideal Qualifications

Ideal skillsets include but are not limited to:

  • Life Care Planning certification
  • AAPC Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification*
  • Third Party valuation accreditation (e.g. CVA, ABV)
  • Accounting / CPA accreditation
  • Testimony history on valuation or medical billing matters

*Note: If candidate does not have AAPC Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification, AccuMed will sponsor candidate to pursue certification


Job Type

Pay

Starting at $105,000 and increasing as responsibilities grow.
