Research Analyst, Due Diligence

Key Responsibilities:
- Identifies, investigates, analyzes, organizes, and evaluates information from various sources to determine a donor prospect's financial capacity, ability to give, philanthropic interests, and relationship to the University.
- Devises research strategies and methods to identify potential donors and/or new donor prospects, determining what relevant donor information is needed to craft fundraising and cultivation strategies.
- Identifies new sources of wealth and tracks existing sources to strengthen donor relationships with the University.
- Analyzes financial publications and corporate disclosures to deepen relationships with current donors and identify new donor prospects.
- Writes donor prospect briefings for the development team.
- Investigates new donor prospects and constantly re-evaluates and monitors established donor sources.
- Participates in planning long- and short-term development strategies with the team to solicit funds and meet department fundraising targets.
- Assesses client needs and manages own schedules.
- May present lectures at industry conferences.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Superior close-reading skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret conflicting information with confidence and patience when faced with uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Superior writing skills, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and deliver analysis with a suitable balance of brevity, substance, and objectivity.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to initiate and apply creative solutions and a native curiosity in learning new things.
- Dependable, tactful, with good ethical judgment. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while maintaining high standards and an interest in improving skills.
- Commitment to an inclusive workplace and the ability to engage with diverse audiences (age, gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, profession, sexual orientation, etc.).
Preferred Education: Experience in research pertaining to fundraising and donor relations. Knowledge of foreign languages is helpful though not required, as is a background in the humanities, journalism, jurisprudence, finance, publishing, or the arts.
Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)
