Responsibilities: Performance of all required laboratory quality control product analyses, as well as the regulated product processing and bottling functions of daily operations, with respect to these regulatory and reporting requirements.
Accurate recordkeeping is essential for all aspects of this position. Daily communication with the Operations Manager is required to assure compliance on all levels. The QC -Lab Technician position requires the ability to organize and prioritize all daily testing requirements to support efficient production, and to fulfill other related responsibilities in a timely fashion.
Participate and assist in any projects for possible new product development. They will work with the Sales and Marketing department, and assist in sourcing flavors and any other raw materials necessary to develop new products. Good communication skills are essential.
Become familiar with Federal and State regulatory and reporting requirements as they relate to product integrity, processing and bottling procedures, QC analysis procedures, production reporting, and report filings.
Perform all daily analyses of product alcohol content, clarity, color, organoleptic evaluation, and properly document all results. This includes testing of product at various stages of processing, and product testing during bottling line runs.
Oversee and monitor daily bottling line checks for bottle fill heights, cap torques and quality of labelling, and monitor any QC issues with raw materials (labels, bottles, caps). Where necessary, contact raw materials suppliers to report and resolve any performance issues. Train responsible line personnel in procedures for fill height checks and cap torque tests, and insure that proper records are kept.
Evaluate incoming product and flavoring materials and other raw materials (labels, caps, bottles) on receipt to insure they meet established standards and are free of contamination. Maintain, and update as necessary, specifications and quality standards for all raw materials.
Maintain and calibrate all laboratory equipment, and schedule vendor maintenance and certified calibration as required.
Perform all daily required tests on the plant water supply. Monitor water usage and coordinate regeneration of system equipment as needed with Processing.
Review, update, and revise all QC procedures and rectifying and bottling operational SOPs as required. Insure that procedures are accurate and complete, and that they fulfill regulatory and reporting requirements. Ensure that all developed standards are maintained and followed.
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly laboratory at all times. Keep instruments and equipment in optimum condition.
Train and oversee support personnel in the performance of all QC laboratory testing requirements so that competent backup is in place.
Coordinate with Operations Manager in evaluating raw materials performance, and investigate all QC issues. Assist in researching new suppliers when necessary.
Assist in Kosher certification and recordkeeping as needed.
Participate, along with plant personnel and Sales and Marketing, in development of any new products.
Learn all programs for daily work order entry, bottling production entry, and any related computer functions so that competent backup is in place.
Support Operations Manager in any audits or inspections by any governing agencies.
Participate in required inventories of all ingredients/raw materials and finished products as required.

Requirements: BS in Chemistry, Biology or related technical/scientific field.
1-3 years QC experience.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements and the importance of accurate support documentation and recordkeeping.
Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
Knowledge of packaging procedures and materials.
