Position: Project Office Engineer, Mid-level - LAWA

Salary Range: $100- $130k

Security Requirements:

Must be a US citizen or a legal resident for three of the past five years. Public Trust cannot be granted without meeting the residency requirement.
Must meet eligibility requirements for a US Public Trust security clearance (moderate risk), including a soft credit check and criminal background check. Please refer to the criteria listed in 5 CFR 731.202 to understand the Public Trust suitability requirements.

Job Summary:

This position will provide experienced program analyst support to the Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA).

Relevant Experience:

At least 15 years or more experience, preferably on airport projects. Has demonstratable specialized experience/area of expertise.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related, and/or a logical assignment for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.

General Support:

  1. Must have Engineering and construction knowledge of all aspects of airfield airport construction.
  2. Must be familiar with construction management tools and software.
  3. Must have experience with FAA reports.
  4. Must have experience with payment applications, including quantity dispute resolution.
  5. Must have excellent skills in document contract, documentation, and saving and monitoring inspection requests submitted by tenant/contractor when received on a daily basis.
  6. Have knowledge of VEO (Inspection/Document control program).
  7. Have knowledge of Prolog (Inspection/Document control program).
  8. Filing and reviewing of RFIs, Submittals, and some knowledge of Plan Reading.
  9. Able to communicate and interact with other LAWA, City Departments, contractors, and Airlines (preferably with previous LAWA experience).
  10. Excellent knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and management software (be capable to create logs, charts, etc.).
  11. Available to work modified schedules and overtime as construction activities require.
  12. Assist in the onboarding process for new hires (i.e., parking services, badging questions, escort class, etc.).
  13. May be called upon to take meeting minute notes in meetings.
  14. Liaison between Inspector and Project management/Document control.
  15. Coordinate Inspector meetings with contractor & stakeholders including organizing weekly safety meetings.
  16. Ability to maintain and organize filing system from pre-construction to project close-out.
  17. Ensure that inspector issued documents are maintained and in compliance with the contract documents and LAWA requirements.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related field. Master's degree preferred.

Professional Licenses & Certification: Licensed Engineer (preferably by CA Board of Engineers) is preferred; Optional Certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PMP, etc., and/or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certification.

  7. Fosters strong interpersonal relationships amongst the program managers to build trust and sense of shared accountability on the team to drive success through assisting in tracking program accomplishments and action items.
