The Vice President of Foster Care is responsible for the management of the program under the leadership and guidance of the Chief Program Officer. Supervising the Directors of Foster Care and all activities, functions of the foster care program including the recruitment and certification of foster parents; supporting the development of Behavioral Health services to the youth and families assigned to the foster care program; providing required reports associated with the business functions of the program; and maintaining a respectful and supportive workplace environment. This position is also responsible for complying with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for leadership and supervision of staff including coordinating and/or conducting staff training and development, hiring and selection of staff, performance evaluation, directing and assigning work, managing work environments, approving timecards and time off requests, and making recommendations for other personnel actions.
  2. Responsible for on-call coverage.
  3. Ensuring ongoing programmatic excellence.
  4. Attracting, developing, coaching, and retaining high-performance team members, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance.
  5. Responsible for managing and reducing risk in area(s) of responsibility and to report it if it is outside of area(s) of responsibility or seeking assistance when needed to resolve the matter. Assuring health and safety risks are controlled or removed, and a safe and therapeutic environment exists.
  6. Demonstrating consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the program goals.
  7. Providing collaborative efforts with agency departments. Participating in and initiating program development via grants and other funding stream options. Representing the program and/or Agency in marketing efforts as needed and/or assigned.
  8. Adhering to agency policies and procedures; promoting and supporting agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Remaining up to date with all state or federal updates with regards to foster care services within New York State and assuring practice.
Job Requirements
  1. A master's degree is strongly preferred in social work, psychology, or other relevant human services.
  2. 5 years of progressive employment experience with a social services or childcare agency organization preferred.
  3. Must have at least 5 years of supervisory experience. Supervisory experience in a foster board care program preferred.
  4. Must have a current, valid driver's license according to the Agency guidelines. Travel required.
