Job Summary

Within the Division of Cardiology, the Research Finance Analyst will manage a high volume of complex research contracts, grants, and subcontracts, utilizing knowledge to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies. This role involves independently reviewing financial and administrative aspects of research proposals and awards, and guiding others in the process. The incumbent will assess and manage transactions that require thorough evaluation, enabling them to review and approve transactions for less experienced staff. Additionally, they may serve as a key resource in specific areas, such as federal and state contracts, subcontracts, or information systems.

In this central role, the incumbent will manage complex proposals and awards, including those involving task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and multiple sub-awards. As the primary liaison between Sponsors and UCSF entities—including Contracts and Grants, Research Management Services, Principal Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, Senior Clinical Research Coordinators, Clinical Research Supervisors, and Managers, Legal, and Procurement—the incumbent will serve as a point of contact for all post-award matters on a diverse and advanced portfolio.

The incumbent will operate with autonomy, collaborating with the division's coordinators to resolve issues related to recruitment, informed consent review, contract interpretation, compliance, and visit milestone audits. They will conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with clinical research coordinators to assist with effort allocation and coordination, train staff on financial terms and implications of projects, and ensure full revenue capture for each project. Furthermore, they will support new coordinators by acting as a liaison with other departments and ensuring they fully utilize available resources. Most importantly, the individual will embody UCSF's PRIDE values, working to create an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
