The Lead Design Engineering will participate in driving the development efforts around cloud technologies. Collaborate with vendor/contractor partners to develop and implement the detailed design, configuration, and engineering strategies/solutions to deliver cloud engineering solutions while remaining focused on security, uptime, and performance. Provide troubleshooting and resolution to complex problems/issues. This role also entails providing functional engineering leadership and direction to cloud team(s) of significant scope/impact (employees, contract personnel, and vendor partners) dedicated to portfolio(s) of technical business applications and/or services, including operational maintenance, production support, front-line management of incidents, development support, and proactive/preventative analysis focused on the development of a custom governance automation platform. Serve as the technical point-person and cloud expert for issues, needs, and project activities across multiple areas of responsibility.

Job Overview:

A senior cloud engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of scalable cloud infrastructure. This role involves working closely with development teams, IT departments, and other stakeholders to ensure cloud environments are efficient, secure, and reliable. A senior cloud engineer will mentor junior engineers and guide the team to adopt cloud best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and manage scalable and highly available cloud architectures.
  2. Design and develop cloud-native automation solutions using Python.
  3. Automate security configurations and continuous compliance monitoring using tools like AWS Config, Azure policies, etc.
  4. Develop and maintain cloud-based infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation.
  5. Implement security best practices for cloud environments.
  6. Monitor and manage cloud security using tools like AWS Config, AWS IAM, AWS IAM Access Analyzer.
  7. Design and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for deployments.
  8. Monitor cloud resource usage and optimize cost efficiency through AWS CUR reports.
  9. Provide insights and recommendations on ways to reduce cloud infrastructure costs without compromising performance.
  10. Work closely with development teams, architects, and other technical teams to support cloud-based solutions.
  11. Develop guardrails, security baselines, and governance models to ensure adherence to compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent technical degree. Proven experience in AWS, Azure, and Python development.
