At Reach, we are delivering technologies to enable the long-range, wireless transfer of power. We believe wireless energy can be as liberating for power systems as WiFi was for data systems, and are busy creating the energy infrastructure that will one day replace the aging electrical grid. We have raised funding from top tier VC's, have real world customers deploying our technology, and are continuing to build out the exceptional team that is making our vision a reality.
The Position
This role will position you as a key leader on Reach’s hardware engineering team. As a Hardware Lead Engineer, you will technically drive a significant section of Reach’s hardware engineering team and develop robust hardware systems that are integral to Reach’s wireless power beaming network. You will also conduct research to improve the performance, flexibility, and integrability of Reach’s technology. As the lead in a small company, you will have a great deal of agency over your work, plenty of opportunity to discover and solve new challenges, and the ability to make large-impact decisions. It will be critical that you are a creative problem solver with strong curiosity, a passionate, proactive spirit eager to add value before it’s requested or identified by others.
Key Position Responsibilities- Lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to deliver your portion of the system from concept to product release
- Actively drive the team to analyze and design our system to meet product and technical requirements
- Collaborate with project management and other engineering teams to plan the effort and establish timelines for yourself and your team

- Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering bachelors or above degree
- At least seven (7) years experience in hardware development
- Strong electronics design experience integrating RF systems, embedded electronics, MCUs and peripherals
- Experience in both low-power (milliwatt-scale), battery-operated systems and high-power (low kilowatt-scale), high efficiency systems
- Experience in mechanical design, including thermal systems.
- Familiar with the hardware design process from concept through board development and system integration for production
- Hands-on experience with bring-up and troubleshooting of boards and systems for some or all of the following: BLE, Wi-Fi, power management, power conversion, I2C, SPI, JTAG, UART, USB, battery charging
- Takes great pride and ownership in developing products
- Proficient communicator with strong organizational skills
- Experience in leading a hardware development team
- Experience with RF applications and collaborating with RF / antenna engineers
- Experience working at a startup or with a small, intimate team
Reach - Who We Are
Reach is a pioneer in a new frontier of technology. Born out of MIT, incubated in YC, and developed in an "office space" that was once the oven of a cookie factory, we are a group of curious, passionate, and creative problem solvers, and we approach our work with vigor and humility.
Much has changed since our cookie factory days, but our core philosophies have remained. Decisions are made quickly, meetings and politics are kept to a minimum, and everyone here does high-visibility work that has considerable influence on our product and company. We have weekly team lunches, quarterly offsite company events, and often spend time together outside of work bicycling, rock climbing, playing music, and hosting happy hours.
We highly value diversity at our company - in not only professional capabilities and experience, but also in personal interests, schools of thought, musical tastes, and walks of life. We prioritize inclusivity, and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
