ERM is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant, PFAS SME to join our Site Investigation and Remediation technical team in Holland, MI. In this role, you will provide technical strategy, conceptual design, and technical project assistance on site investigation, remediation, and emerging contaminants projects, particularly around Per- and polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) for clients locally, nationally and internationally.

As a Principal Consultant you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the Mid-Atlantic while networking with ERM's global remediation technical team and technology experts to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with the North American Service Line lead and other Partners to further develop a global go-to market strategy related to PFAS.
  • Oversee, manage and provide technical expertise on PFAS issues related to site investigation and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in the chemical, manufacturing, oil and gas and other industrial sectors.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing contaminated site management strategies.
  • Evaluate various remedial technologies, especially those for PFAS, for applicability at specific sites (e.g. feasibility screening).
  • Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business related to site investigation and remediation of PFAS to grow the SIR area in the Mountain West, Pacific West and across the chemical, oil and gas and manufacturing sectors.
  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering or geology/hydrogeology or similar.
  • 6+ years (8+ years preferred) consulting experience working with significant industrial clients on complex site investigation/remediation and construction projects under a variety of state, federal, and international regulatory structures.
  • Expertise in PFAS related topics, including publication through journals and/or conferences.
  • Experience preparing detailed technical and environmental reports.
  • Experience interacting with regulators and clients to facilitate project progress.
  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
  • Up to date Health and Safety training (HAZWOPER 40-hour training and OSHA 30-hour training).
