The Complex Liability Consulting (CLC) practice offers extensive expertise and services related to a range of mass tort and complex liability matters, including insurance archeology, policy analysis and mapping, electronic database solutions, allocation modeling, insurer negotiations, and claims and payment tracking. CLC is seeking a consultant to join its team.

General Summary:

The consultant will be tasked with implementing strategic plans to maximize clients’ insurance recovery for mass torts and other high-value claims. This role requires an understanding of foundational insurance concepts and legal pleadings (e.g., Summons and Complaint). Candidates should be proficient in Word and Excel, capable of following established protocols, and skilled in organizing and tracking data using internal systems. The ideal candidate will be innovative in problem-solving to enhance processes and exhibit a strong willingness to learn.

Essential Functions:

  1. Attention to detail, organization, and meeting deadlines.
  2. Analytical problem-solving along with strong verbal and written skills.
  3. Conduct research via the internet and other applicable sources; investigation skills are required.
  4. Ability to work independently within a corporate environment.

Client Service:

  1. Reviewing and recording information about claims filed.
  2. Researching financial parent companies and determining insurers' financial solvency of legacy insurers.
  3. Setting up email and letter claim notifications and ensuring that insurers have received notices.
  4. Reviewing insurer correspondence and highlighting material issues for the senior managing consultant and the client.
  5. Understanding and analyzing basic coverage issues relative to commercial general liability and excess liability insurance policies.
  6. Organizing information relative to litigation costs across multiple claims.
  7. Communicating with insurers and clients to provide coverage, claims, and litigation cost information and to respond to questions.
  8. Actively uncovers concerns or issues that may be unclear.
  9. Respects and maintains client confidentiality.
Requirements

Must have:

  • Experience with handling complex claims specifically related to general liability and excess policies.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience at an insurance carrier or third-party administrator.
  • Long Tail Tort Claims Experience : Proven experience managing Long Tail Tort claims, especially in complex cases.
  • Specialization in Key Areas : In-depth knowledge of claims related to Asbestos, Toxic Tort, Chemicals, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Pollution, Environmental, Product, and Premises Liabilities.
