New York NY United States NYU Langone Health System Full time

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking a Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist to join their faculty. The role will focus on specialized assessment, clinical care, and education related to developmental and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents, working in both the outpatient Pediatrics division of the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone and the NYU Child Study Center. The Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist will report to the Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs of the NYU Langone Child Study Center and the Network Pediatric Medical Director at the Family Health Centers (FHC) at NYU Langone, and it involves primary responsibilities at the NYU Child Study Center's Manhattan site (.70 FTE) and additional duties at NYU Langone's Family Health Centers in Brooklyn (.30 FTE). This role is integral to the SAMHSA Project LAUNCH Grant, which aims to enhance the wellness of Brooklyn's youngest children (-8 years old) by addressing their social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral development, with a unique focus on assessing and diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In the work at the NYU Child Study Center (0.70FTE), the neurodevelopmental psychiatrist will work closely with the Autism Spectrum Disorders Service, the Psychopharmacology Service, and the Early Childhood Service (amongst others) to enhance the capacity of the NYU Child Study Center to provide more specialized care to children with developmental needs within these populations. In the work in Project LAUNCH (0.30 FTE), the Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist will coordinate with the developmental psychologist and the developmental pediatrician to provide developmentally sensitive screening, evaluation, and treatment for children 0-8yo who require assessment for emotional or behavioral concerns. The role involves providing treatment recommendations and developing a plan of care for children, conducting further assessments in the Project LAUNCH clinic for young children referred to the program, and delivering trauma-informed care practices to prevent trauma or re-traumatization in patient care. Additionally, the psychiatrist will provide comprehensive diagnostic assessment and, when indicated, treatment using a family-centered and culturally competent approach.

The successful candidate will contribute to clinical care and teaching of developmental behavioral pediatrics in child and adolescent populations across several areas of programmatic/clinical need. This includes attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, emotional disorders, intellectual disability, developmental/psychiatric concerns.
