Title: Executive Director of Instructional Services

Reports to: Superintendent

Job Classification: Exempt

Length: Twelve Month Year

Job Goal: Supervises and coordinates activities of administrators and staff who are engaged in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and the departments that support these functions.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities)

● Minimum of Master’s Degree; Administration and Supervision Certificate

● Minimum of five years of combined teaching and administrative experience

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer the following departments: Special Education, School Improvement, Elementary Education, English Learners
  • Lead all district initiatives that address school improvement and curriculum and instruction
  • Provide unity and focus on all curriculum department and all seven school programs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grants and pursue new grant opportunities
  • Assist in the development and coordination of the budget pertaining to curriculum and instruction
  • Maintain liaison and active participation with education leaders at state, regional, and national levels
  • Provide leadership in coordinating federal projects and district curriculum and instructional programs
  • Assist in the direction and coordination of the Special Education Department
  • Assist in the direction and coordination of the English Learners Department
  • Oversee curriculum development and planning
  • Collaborate with HR department to address district-wide staffing needs
  • Communicate curriculum and instructional initiatives with the community using print and digital platforms
  • Serve as a liaison between staff, community, and related educational organizations
  • Advocate for the needs of curriculum and instruction
  • Serve as an expert resource in research, trends, and practices in curriculum and instruction
  • Co-chair evaluation and compensation committee with the HR department ensuring state compliance
  • Lead the coordination and allocation of all grant funds
  • Support and oversee Career Technical Education (CTE)
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to provide financial support for instructional programs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Working Conditions and Physical Environment

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone and enter data into a computer; hear and understand speech at normal levels; possess physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead. The employee may be exposed to angry students/parents and neighborhoods with high levels of violence potential.
