About the role:

You have a deep knowledge of state and federal legislative processes and experience working with legislators and executive agencies to advance new policy ideas. You understand the mechanics and motivations that trigger executive agency enforcement actions and can effectively work with a variety of stakeholders to advance legislative and policy goals. Responsibilities:
  • Identify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states.
  • Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations.
  • Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change.
  • Monitor relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory changes.
  • Work with business teams, including Product, Sales, and People Ops, to implement required legislative and regulatory changes after conducting a risk analysis of compliance.
  • Lead public relations campaigns, using traditional and social media outlets to engage stakeholders on advocacy issues affecting the business.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify, investigate, and manage risks across the business.
  • Analyze and provide guidance on evolving rules, regulations, compliance requirements, and trends impacting the tech and healthcare industries.
What success looks like 90 days in:
  • Developed and implemented a plan to expand government relations work in at least two additional jurisdictions.
  • Developed and implemented a plan to work with a specific group of stakeholders to promote the company’s interests.
  • Created a legislative and regulatory monitoring system digestible by both the legal team and internal business partners.
  • Contributed to drafting and updating at least one company policy and improving at least one substantial cross-functional process.
Need to have:
  • JD, with admission to a state bar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal and/or government relations experience (either at a well-respected lobbying firm, law firm, or as an in-house attorney).
  • At least 2 years of experience working in state or federal government.
  • Experience engaging legislators and government regulators.
  • Bias toward action and solving (not just spotting) problems.
  • Ability to take ownership of your work and manage projects independently.
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, autonomously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Agility and flexibility to take on new tasks and responsibilities as necessary to support the business and legal team’s needs.
  • Ability to engage with and interpret government data from databases and other sources.
  • Experience working cross-culturally and with diverse, global teams.
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States.

The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $220,000. This range is Clipboard Health's reasonable estimate of the salary for this role. The actual amount may differ based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or equity compensation.
