Chief Credit Officer Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Lending functions of the bank by providing directive to VPs, AVPs, Lending Officers, Senior Credit Analyst, Crop Insurance Manager.
  • Underwrite, originate and service all types of loans.
  • Develop and manage the Bank’s annual lending budget. Ensure that budget links to strategic plan/goals.
  • Manage loan portfolio for appropriate mix, ensuring profitability without significant risk to the Bank.
  • Manage all aspects of bank-wide credit policy, credit administration, and loan review.
  • Monitor and communicate rates and terms.
  • Develop, implement, communicate, and model a sales and service culture focused on new business development and growth of existing customer relationships.
  • Review loan requests, approval within established lending authorities.
  • Serve as conduit between lenders and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee loan collection, problem credits, and administration of OREO assets.
  • Oversee and monitor the loan risk rating system.
  • Assist CFO with monitoring loan loss reserves.
  • Receive and monitor any Bankruptcy notifications and actions required.
  • Monitor and communicate prices on crops and livestock for balance sheet and cash flow purposes.
  • Work with BSA Officer on SAR’s and actions on suspicious transactions.

Chief Credit Officer Expectations:

  • Perform job accountabilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of Internal Service Standards for this department.
  • Provide open communication to supervisor and reports.
  • Uphold the employment guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook and Supplements.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of compliance and internal control requirements necessary to complete the job.
Education & Experience
  • College Degree in Business Administration and/or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Specialized credit training.
  • 7-10 years banking background.
  • 5-7 years Credit Administration/Loan Review.
