Senior Communications Consultant (Contractor)

Purpose Possible is seeking an experienced Senior Communications Consultant to lead and manage both retainer and project-based contracts. This role demands a professional with strong writing, editing, graphic design, social content creation, project management, and people management skills. The ideal candidate will be adept at leading team members, managing projects independently, and engaging with organization leaders. Versatility in social media strategies, email marketing, analytics, professional writing, graphic design, and problem-solving is essential, as is the flexibility to handle engagements across diverse industries.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management & Project Leadership

  • Oversee client projects from inception to completion, including planning, execution, critique, and deliverance.
  • Lead and facilitate internal meetings with the project team, ensuring clear communication and project alignment.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and internal team to manage requests and tasks, ensuring client satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Lead client meetings and provide necessary structure and support through tasks such as research, meeting agendas, note-taking, and report creation.
  • Provide constructive feedback, edits, and notes to team members to ensure client deliverables meet professional standards and adhere to branding, voice, and tone guidelines.
  • Complete required deliverables when team members are unavailable or when acting as the sole consultant on a project.
  • Become well versed in various client industries, challenges, successes, news, brand, communication styles, and more.

Social Media & Communications Strategy

  • Support clients through comprehensive social media and communications engagements.
  • Develop and maintain social media calendar and content.
  • Design engaging social graphics, reels, stories, and other content.
  • Write and guide engaging social copy that meets the voice, tone, and messaging requirements of multiple client organizations across various industries
  • Engage daily with client social communities on behalf of the organization.
  • Provide detailed reporting, analytics, and assessments.
  • Implement and advise on strategies for audience expansion, engagement, activity promotions, branding, targeted messaging, and more.

Content Creation & Design

  • Create high quality graphics for social media, emails, reports, flyers and other communication needs.
  • Write, guide, and edit long form copy including press releases, annual reports, communications plans, campaign messaging, and more.
  • Create and/or manage the creation of client newsletters and email campaigns.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with consultant teams to ensure a seamless client experience and successful service execution.
  • Update the team on project progress and attend regular company meetings. Communicate with the client regularly to manage requests, tasks, etc.
  • Build a professional relationship with the client for optimal service delivery.
  • Ensure that Purpose Possible services exceed client expectations.
  • Communicate with the Client Service Director on project status, team members, and client experience.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to support client needs and project goals.
  • Prepare and manage communication via email to clients, candidates, and stakeholders.
  • Collect, write, and edit content for various communication channels.
  • Adhere to scopes of work while providing exceptional work and client satisfaction.
  • Efficiently manage client responsibilities within allotted project/monthly hours.
  • Become adept at multiple client industries for the best quality work and client experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Training:

  • 5-7 years of leadership experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written, oral, and visual.
  • Strong graphic design skills with knowledge of typography, color theory, file formats, print production, layout design, and composition
  • In-depth understanding of social media analytics and trends.
  • Highly organized, deadline-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to transform ideas and discussions into actionable to-dos and content.
  • Passionate about the nonprofit sector.
  • Proficiency with professional multiple email and social media platforms.
  • Experience in storytelling and copy editing is necessary.
  • Must have an understanding of audience management, targeting, and segmenting for social media, email campaigns, and fundraising initiatives.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Training:

  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to oversee multiple client relationships with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience working in the nonprofit sector.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising strategies.
  • Knowledge of Adobe design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Knowledge of website management, SEO, and UX design.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, including Google Ads, Facebook Ads, CRMs, and WordPress & Plugins.

Schedule and Location

Purpose Possible has offices in Atlanta, GA, and Washington, DC. The majority of our work is performed remotely, with an occasional in-person client meeting if required.

Compensation - Contractor

$55 - $70 Per Hour, depending on experience
