Training and Development Specialist - Journeyman

The Training and Development Specialist - Journeyman will provide knowledge and expertise in the operation, employment, maintenance, or repair of systems, subsystems, or equipment related to military training systems.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for providing specific occupational knowledge to instructional systems teams leading to the successful development of training programs and curricula in support of customer and program objectives as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Aviation Electronics Technician (ATO) rating for Navy Training Curriculum Development.
  2. Assure the technical and operational accuracy of the subject matter undergoing training product development.
  3. Support the Instructional Systems Analysts in identifying/validating training requirements.
  4. Support the Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychologist in developing human performance metrics.
  5. Develop target audience learning profiles.
  6. Provide technical expertise in developing straw man task lists to expedite the task analysis process.
  7. Guide the conduct of task analysis workshops.
  8. Support the Instructional Systems Analyst in determining the most appropriate courseware presentation and media for the subject matter.
  9. Provide consultation concerning the level of difficulty of assessment items.
  10. Develop POA&M(s), research designs and strategies, progress reports, and prepare final reports.
  11. Serve as advisor and consultant to various NAWCTSD Orlando acquisition functions and other Navy and DoD organizations on matters relating to instructional technologies and methodologies.
  12. Communicate with professionals in the field of military and industrial training and transfer the advances in instructional technology for collecting and evaluating data to assigned tasks.
  13. Provide guidance for meetings and conferences to coordinate research efforts and to provide an interface with other technical codes of NAWCTSD Orlando and other training activities and agencies.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Formal training and experience working as an Aviation Electronics Technician (ATO) required.
  3. Must have 5+ years of experience in DoD. Navy training preferred.
  4. Secret clearance required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must have the ability to attend all customer in-person meetings and conferences within two (2) hours, as requested.
  2. Ability to travel locally up to 50%.
  3. Possess the ability to coordinate and integrate the work activities of several different projects at any one time.
  4. Possess the ability to communicate with others effectively both orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to apply Integrated Learning Environment principles and guidelines for the design and development of training products.
  6. Ability to develop learning strategies, assessment strategies, and author training products to close the identified training gap.
  7. Verify and ensure the technical and operational accuracy of the subject content and the treatment of content in materials chosen or produced for the project.
  8. Ability to assist in the performance of the planning process.
  9. Consider the relationship of the subject undergoing development to other subjects in the program, making recommendations to enhance the situation.
  10. Advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  11. Maintain a high level of integrity and accountability.
  12. Possess strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
