Kansas State Program Director

Job Summary
The Kansas State Program Director will implement and grow the program operations within the assigned locations and supervise the personnel involved. They will collaborate with agencies that refer youth for services (i.e. juvenile probation, schools, etc.) and with community stakeholders such as mentoring organizations, the mental health system, faith organizations, and businesses to maximize impact of One Heart Project programs. In addition, they will seek resources and solidify partnerships to sustain funding for ongoing program operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the One Heart Project (OHP) program model (curriculum delivery, case management, mentoring, and gap skills) is delivered effectively and maintains program fidelity while also meeting the expectations of funding resources.
- Ensure the appropriate youth are selected for the program.
- Monitor classes and one-to-one interactions with youth and families, observing facilitators and youth development specialists.
- Ensure all personnel are documenting and reporting data on program services and operations as required.
- Review and analyze available data regularly to ensure the program is running effectively.
- Ensure each mentor meets all OHP and customer agency qualifications.
- Provide reports as required and directed.
- Establish partnerships with customer agencies and community stakeholders.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, assignment, and engagement of volunteers with the assistance of the Volunteer Recruiter.
- Seek funding sources, community resources, appropriate job training, job placement assistance, and other resource needs as identified.
- Provide day-to-day leadership for program staff through the development of knowledge and understanding of all programs and local operations.
- Directly supervise coordinator roles (i.e. Program Coordinator and Volunteer Recruiter).
- Indirectly supervise Youth Development Specialists and Curriculum Facilitators.
- In the absence of personnel, facilitate cohorts/classes and provide case management services.
- Approve expense reports and requests for time off.
- Conduct performance reviews with all assigned personnel.
- Work collaboratively with National Office.
- Develop and manage funding sources.
- Enhance marketing and communications.
- Execute budgets.
- Support personnel needs through recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, and offboarding.
- Develop and implement organizational strategic plan and supporting processes needed to achieve the plan.
- Manage contracts within their jurisdiction.
- Attend meetings and trainings as needed to effectively communicate with all involved parties.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of effective interventions for at-risk and justice-involved youth including the processes and procedures of the local education and justice systems.
- Knowledge of case management principles, objectives, standards, and methods.
- Ability to communicate with diverse populations of youth in varied situations.
- Knowledge of local community resources and ability to network with community leaders to enhance program effectiveness.
- Ability to observe and assess various situations with staff and stakeholders and then respond effectively to create collaborative outcomes.
- Ability to manage programs, relationships, and budgets across multiple locations to build organization and staff capacity.
- Leadership skills that maximize the strengths and abilities of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities to carry out assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, data reporting, and data analysis.
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, education, business or related field required, master’s degree preferred.
- 2-3 years previous experience working with an adolescent population.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a community agency, preferably serving at-risk or justice-involved youth.
- Experience working with at-risk and/or justice-involved youth preferred.
- Management experience in a community agency, preferably with justice agencies and systems delivering services to youth.
Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to manage a classroom of youth, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Ability to type and write effectively, including data entry.
- Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with visual acuity adequate to perform the responsibilities and duties of the job.
- Have a valid driver’s license and current insurance in the state of work.
Job Type: Full-time
