The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a US Federal Agencies Key Account Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) solutions to meet customer requirements for Personal Safety Division products sold to the US Federal Government. The role will focus on selling 3M Peltor, 3M Scott, and other 3M PSD PPE products.
  • Developing and building strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers within Federal Government Agencies.
  • Creating and communicating strategic initiatives to achieve short, medium, and long-term sales goals by identifying and developing key customer opportunities within Federal Government Agencies.
  • Maintaining proficiency as a subject matter expert on 3M Peltor and 3M Scott portfolio products.
  • Providing training and support to end users and channel partners for PSD product portfolios sold to assigned customers.
  • Working cross-functionally with Application Engineers, Marketing, and focused Integrators to meet customers' product needs and identifying external market trends.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum ) the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of honorable service in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current, valid Driver’s License
  • Accessibility to US military bases and Federal Agency offices.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience working in or selling to Federal Government agencies
  • Prior Key Account and/or Business Development experience.
  • Experience with radios/communication technology and/or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) respiratory equipment
  • Experience with 3M Personal Safety Division products – primarily 3M Peltor and 3M Scott branded solutions
  • Exceptional communication, organization, negotiation and presentation skills required to communicate with senior leadership and decision makers at all levels
  • Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment to effectively work through and manage change/ambiguity, with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Experience working with cross-functional project teams
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Demonstrates confidence, and optimism; is collaborative; contributes to a positive work environment
  • Dedication to independent ongoing learning required to maintain product knowledge and application within the market space

Work location: Must reside within the national capital region: Washington DC, Southern Maryland, Northern Virginia and within 1 hour proximity of a commercial airport.

Travel: May include up to 75% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
