Your Role

The Cost of Healthcare finance team is responsible for driving the financial and operational aspects of meeting yearly and long-term cost of healthcare targets. The Financial Analyst, Principal will report to the Senior Director of Cost of Healthcare finance. In this role you will prepare health care cost analysis on emerging changes to cost of healthcare trends and help to explain financial performance.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Provide disciplined, supported measurements of cost of healthcare savings
  • Assure consistent measurement approaches across initiatives
  • Collect and evaluate data, develop and maintain financial models, analyze results and conduct scenario analyses related to the cost of health
  • Reconcile data results from different sources and combine them into integrated reports spanning cost, quality, utilization, and risk profile metrics
  • Aggregate and track the value of cost of healthcare savings initiatives across the enterprise
  • Summarize the results and explain changes between measurements to support both the quarterly Trendsetters process and other regular progress reports to executive management
  • Participate in internal workgroups and committees to provide analytical insight and support for the implementation and enhancement of new programs, products, and services
  • Automate the templates used for tracking and monitoring cost of healthcare savings to make the process more efficient
  • Support development work on enhancements to self-service analytic tools
  • Learn to leverage Artificial Intelligence to speed the identification of cost of healthcare trend drivers

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Proficiency in financial analysis skills and knowledge of BSC’s strategy and vision
  • Hands on. Ability to roll up sleeves and support efforts of a small team to drive results
  • Curiosity. Passionate about digging into data to identify root causes and potentially actionable drivers
  • Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • High energy—clear results orientation

Pay Range: The pay range for this role is $136,400.00 to $204,600.00 for California.

Note: Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
