Raytheon is hiring a Java Software Engineer II to support our teams in Richardson, Texas. You will have the opportunity to directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. In this role, you will use your solid foundation in Java and experience working in a Linux environment to comprehend customer needs and translate those needs into viable design solutions.
What You Will Do
- Opportunity to use your understanding of software principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering (including software development lifecycle and software development process), design patterns, and Object Oriented architecture.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
- Demonstrate your critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
- The ability to obtain and maintain SCI program access and complete polygraphs.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of Software Engineering experience.
- Experience in Java Development.
- Object-Oriented design and development experience.
- Software Integration or Troubleshooting experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with the following:
- SW design decomposition experience
- Python Development.
- Mission Management, Command and Control.
- Containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Large legacy systems and micro services
- Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with Agile toolsets (e.g. Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Jenkins, Cucumber, etc.).
- DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.
- AWS Cloud Technologies.
- Building automated tests.
- Upgrading COTS/FOSS

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
