OnsiteAt Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.
Raytheon is currently seeking a Test Equipment Design Engineer to join the Sensor Test Solutions (STS) Department within Test Equipment Engineering (TEE). This is an excellent position for engineers with a background in digital, analog, RF, or power test equipment design and a desire to apply those skills to developing, building, and integrating advanced test platforms and architectures.
You will be joining a diverse project team supporting the development of test solutions for radar, sonar, communication, missile, combat control systems, subsystems and components for various programs within Raytheon. These products involve Analog, RF, Microwave, Acoustic, High Power, and Digital Electronic technologies along with embedded software and firmware, signal processing, and VHDL designs. STS Engineers are involved from the beginning of test solution design process through the verification and final system sell-off.
Typical test solutions include simulation/stimulation and data acquisition test capabilities for verifying a product’s functional performance. These capabilities may encompass Hardware-In-the-Loop simulators, custom Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), Commercial ATE, High Power, Mixed-Signal, Digital and Environmental Stress Screening systems, mechanical holding fixtures, adapters, and interface cabling and harnessing.
What You Will Do
- Develop test hardware, software, and/or firmware, from requirements definition through deployment at manufacturing or customer facilities. These test capabilities may span multiple disciplines (Power, RF, Analog, Digital) and domains (hardware, software, firmware).
- Actively identify test readiness issues and optimizations throughout the development lifecycle.
- Understand and meet established project budget, schedule, and performance commitments
- Guide mechanical engineering and/or suppliers through test adapter design activities, with moderate support from senior engineers.
- Function as an individual contributor, working autonomously with limited supervision. Understand the role of a small team lead.
- Engage in personal technical growth.
- Prepare and clearly present your work product at project status meetings.
- Support Manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with design engineering teams.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of two (2) years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in engineering design and development, preferably related to Test equipment development efforts.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Experience working as a member of a team
- Experience with National Instruments’ TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW
- Experience with Digital, Analog, RF, and/or Power Supply test hardware and/or software design
- Experience with VXI / VME / MXI / PXI / CompactPCI application development
- Experience with commercial test and measurement equipment
- VHDL and embedded system design knowledge
- Software applications / programming skills
- Understanding of engineering processes: CMMI, 6 sigma
