Vocational Specialist - PACT North
SUMMARY
The Clinician I - Vocational Specialist provides direct, supportive, and ongoing coordination of therapeutic services to assist clients with behavioral health disorders achieve the highest level of independence and stability possible in their community through a vocational perspective. Services delivered are recovery-focused and include but are not limited to case management, treatment planning, resource identification and assistance, identification and development of natural supports, advocacy, service monitoring and follow-up, collaboration with natural supports and other providers, and individual and group services. The Clinician I Vocational Specialist is responsible for assessing client functioning and needs with additional focus on vocation and partnering with the client to develop an individually tailored care plan designed to promote recovery. The Clinician I Vocational Specialist will be responsible for providing supported education related services providing support to enrolling and participating in educational activities. The Clinician I Vocational Specialist will be responsible for providing supported employment services including work-related services to help clients value and understand the implications of, as well as find and maintain meaningful, competitive employment in community-based job sites. Vocational services also include job development and coordination with employers, as well as individualized follow-along support. Clinician I Vocational Specialist also serves as a treatment team member and provides back up to other team members as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned
- Complies with all accurate and appropriate charting, coding, and billing procedures as required by the regulatory organizations.
- Documents delivery of services in the medical record. Completes all paperwork to agency standard and within required timelines.
- Meets or exceeds service hour expectations established by the agency.
- Accepts primary responsibility for the treatment of a caseload of clients.
- Establishes a treatment plan and goals with client and evaluates progress throughout treatment.
- Routinely assesses for risk issues including danger to self or others and develops plans with client to mitigate those risks.
- Provides a range of medically necessary clinical interventions, including but not limited to behavioral health counseling and case management services, to adults/older adults. Whenever possible, treatment approaches employing Evidence-Based Practices will be used.
- Provides group patient education including planning, implementing, and facilitating groups for identified clients.
- Monitors compliance with court orders as needed. Delivers services as stated in the order, seeks extensions when indicated, and completes all required documentation.
- Works collaboratively and coordinates with psychiatric services, emergency services, other treatment team members, etc.
- Coordinates services with community agencies (e.g., DSHS, DDD, Courts, etc.) and works in context of a treatment team as needed and appropriate.
- Makes appropriate referrals for auxiliary services such as drug and alcohol services when clinically indicated.
- Coordinates care with primary care and collaborating professionals from other systems as well as natural supports as appropriate.
- Participates in regularly scheduled supervision and team meetings.
- Remains compliant with required trainings and certifications.
- Behaves in an ethical and professional manner consistent with agency policy, state law, and licensing entities if applicable.
- Understands and practices safekeeping of client protected health information per Compass Health‘s HIPAA and other agency policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates respect for diversity and a commitment to developing multicultural competency and sensitivity.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides assertive community treatment to persons with severe and persistent behavioral health disorders with complex needs, diverse diagnoses, multiple inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations, multi-system involvement, and lack of recovery progress at lesser levels of care.
- Provides daily outreach to client homes and facilities relevant to client care including hospitals, jails, medical facilities, and community organizations.
- Provides services in collaboration with members of the PACT multi-disciplinary team.
- Provides services in accordance with PACT fidelity standards (I.E., 75% outreach services, clients receive multiple services per week, at least 80% of caseload served each week, etc.).
- Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Participates in 24/7 on-call pager rotation.
- Provides after hours on-call crisis phone intervention and after-hours outreach to hospitals, emergency rooms, and triage facilities.
In addition to the above program specific duties and responsibilities the Vocational Specialist will provide:
Supported Education services:
- Strengths-based assessment of educational interests, abilities, and history.
- Pre-admission counseling to determine which school and/or type of educational opportunities may be available. 3. If indicated, referral to GED classes and testing.
- Assistance with completion of applications and financial aid forms.
- Help with registration.
- Orientation to campus buildings and school services.
- Assessment of learning style and study skills.
- Early identification and intervention with academic difficulties.
- Linking with academic supports such as tutoring and learning resources.
- Assistance with time management and schoolwork deadlines.
- Supportive counseling.
- Information regarding disclosing mental illness.
- Advocating with faculty for reasonable accommodations.

- Work-related supportive services, such as assistance with resume development, job application preparation, interview support, grooming and personal hygiene, securing of appropriate clothing, wake-up calls, and transportation.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
- BA/BS/BSW Degree in a Behavioral Science related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Evidence-Based Practices, or interest and ability to learn.
- Individuals who do not already hold a license or associate license through the Washington State Department of Health must submit Agency Affiliated Counselor application upon hire and be approved by the DOH.
- Valid Washington State Driver‘s License including vehicle and appropriate insurance, if applicable.
- At least one year of training and experience in employment services. Preference will be given to people who have training and experience in working with individuals with mental illness within the IPS model of support employment.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call pager rotation.

- Ability to work effectively with individuals with complex needs and multi-system involvement.
- Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- General computer proficiency, including the ability to utilize electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check, which may or may not include an additional search by DSHS
