General Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper - AKHI Job Category : SCA - Field Services Requisition Number : GENER001137 Posted: December 2, 2023 Full-Time Locations 109 Holton St, Winchester, MA 01890, USA The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as HVAC, painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of duties including but not limited to: Replacing electrical ballast, lamps, receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors. Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets. Painting structures and equipment. Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks. Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles. Hanging doors and installing door locks. Replacing broken window panes. Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery. Cultivating and caring for the landscaping and grounds surrounding the facility. Planting flowers, mowing, pulling weeds, repairing structures, and maintaining the outside of the building. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Completes service orders with accurate information to include labor hours and materials used. Observes and practices safe working procedures. Ensures timecard is accurately completed on a daily basis. Participates in departmental and other meetings regularly. Performs general maintenance tasks as directed by Supervisor on time and to specification. Locates and moves materials, equipment, and parts between work areas. General manual labor to include use of hand tools. Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and other duties. Possess good housekeeping skills with attention to detail. Assists other Facility Maintenance staff with various tasks. Maintain landscaping in an aesthetic and professional manner. Mow lawn to maintain grass at the desired height of 2 inches. Prune trees and shrubs correctly. Identify noxious weeds. Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes. May be required to apply pesticide. Cut down tree limbs that pose a danger. Edging at all tree mounds, plant beds, curbs, sidewalks, and paved areas. Trim shrubs and pull weeds. Report damaged plants in need of replacement. Perform minor repairs on equipment utilized in grounds keeping. Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed. Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision None Minimum Qualifications Candidate must be a U.S. citizen. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Three or more years of experience in the general maintenance trade supplemented by one year experience as a General Maintenance Worker. Requires a current and valid Drivers license and proof of current automobile insurance. Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, and tools of the general maintenance trade. Thorough knowledge of applicable building codes and specifications. Knowledge of power tools and their application. Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Good working knowledge of computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational skills. Must be capable of lifting to 50 pounds. Must be able to pass required criminal background check and pre-employment drug testing. Preferred Qualifications 40-Hour HAZWOPER Course. 8-Hour HAZWOPER refresher. Lead Awareness course completion. Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures.
