D. C. Taylor Co. is seeking a highly motivated, personable, and confidential Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing employee payroll, verification of time reporting and accuracy, and processing salary adjustments. In addition, the Payroll Specialist processes new hires and rehires in payroll, completes employee department transfers and status changes, and maintains records of paid time off and other leave. Qualified individuals will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, perform tasks without repeated instructions, deliver exceptional internal customer service, and work with limited supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for all employees (weekly and bi-weekly)
- Manage new hires, rehires, and employee changes (department transfers, status changes)
- Track and maintain employee leave (paid time off)
- Process payroll deductions (taxes, garnishments)
- Generate and submit various tax reports (federal, state, local)
- Handle year-end payroll tasks (W-2s, new tax rates)
- Reconcile payroll accounts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related field) preferred, or equivalent experience
- Payroll certification (CPP or FPC) preferred, but willing to obtain
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fast-paced, multi-state payroll
- Knowledge of multi-state tax laws and filing regulations
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Discreet and professional demeanor
